Vacuum & Atmosphere Box Furnaces

Sealed batch furnace systems configured around chamber volume, load, working cycle, pressure or gas environment, cooling and process-safety requirements.

Open vacuum atmosphere box furnace installed inside a cylindrical pressure vessel

Configuration overview

Application fit
Batch heat treatment, sintering or thermal processing that requires a defined gas or reduced-pressure environment around the load.
Temperature / cycle
Defined by the selected configuration and required working cycle. Working and maximum values must be confirmed separately.
Geometry
Usable chamber dimensions, load clearance, vessel geometry, door movement, service access and installation footprint are selected together.
Atmosphere boundary
Gas species, operating-pressure objective, pumping and backfill sequence, sealing, exhaust and cooling boundaries require project-specific review.
Heating / connection
Chamber construction, heating-element arrangement, control zones and feedthroughs are coordinated with the thermal cycle and sealed vessel.

When a sealed batch process is required

Vacuum and atmosphere box furnaces combine an enclosed heated chamber with a sealed vessel, pumping or gas-handling equipment, controls and safety interlocks. The system is configured around the load, thermal cycle and required process environment.

LoadMaterial, part geometry, fixtures, batch mass and contamination limits.
Thermal cycleWorking temperature, ramp, hold, cooling and repeatability requirements.
Process environmentGas species, pressure objective, pumping, backfill, flow and exhaust.
System interfacesChamber, vessel, door, seals, feedthroughs, controls and utilities.

Chamber and vessel must be selected together

The hot chamber determines usable load space and heating arrangement, while the surrounding vessel establishes the sealed process boundary. Door movement, insulation, electrical feedthroughs, thermocouples, pumping connections and cooling provisions must be coordinated as one assembly.

Configuration options to discuss

  • Usable chamber dimensions and loading method
  • Working cycle and controlled cooling requirement
  • Gas species, flow, pressure and exhaust conditions
  • Pump, valve, measurement and backfill boundaries
  • Heating elements, control zones and temperature measurement
  • Power, cooling water, compressed gas and installation limits
